Joachim Low adds fuel to the fire & demeans Brazil coach

Germany coach Joachim Low was somewhat patronising towards Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari following his side’s impressive 7-1 win over the host nation in a 2014 FIFA World Cup semifinal match on Tuesday.

 

 Low’s German side handed Brazil their worst ever international defeat since 1920 when they lost 6-0 to Uruguay.

 

 Five goals in the first half from Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos (a brace) and Sami Khedira handed them a commanding lead at the break.

 

 The second half saw them score a further two goals thanks to another brace from substitute Andre Schurrle before Oscar grabbed a consolation goal in the 90th minute.

 

 Following the game, Low said he felt sorry for Scolari and added fuel to the flames by saying ‘it was an easy match’.

 

“They (Brazil) were shocked and didn't expect to fall behind,” said Low.

 

“After that it was an easy match for us.

 

“I feel sorry for him (Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari).

 

“All 200 million people here (in Brazil) want you to get to the final and that can cause your players to tighten up.

 

“Five goals in 18 minutes - it's clear that they were shocked and didn't know what to do.”

 

Low congratulated his players for their performance, but added that they will try keep the same level of concentration for the final on Sunday.

 

“Everyone did their job today with a lot of concentration,” added the German coach.

 

“But this has to continue. We need to stay humble. We don't want to over-rate this.

 

“We have to stay concentrated until Sunday.”
